Following Rachel's lead, I took the "What Movie Is Your Christmas Most Like?" quiz and came out with a Charlie Brown Christmas. I'd have to say that is pretty accurate. Funny too, because we just watched it a couple of weeks ago. Bill and I were more into it than Sophie was.
I love Christmas time, but I, like Charlie Brown, gripe at all of the commercialism. Since I am not a creative gift giver, I get more stressed out than anything about gifts. I'm always up for not exchanging gifts! And how annoying that Santa just takes over the whole thing. I don't know how the birth of our Savior got coupled with a fat man who slips down the chimney and brings us everything we want...or does he? I can honestly say growing up I remember one Christmas morning where I was just overjoyed and awed by all of the gifts that were under the tree. Most of the time I was just disappointed. The magic ended one Christmas when all I really wanted was Santa to clean my room (how lame). I figured if he was real he would clean my room, but as it turns out my room was in the same condition on Christmas morning as it had been the night before. :)
Thankfully now I can celebrate and understand the real reason for Christmas! And don't get me wrong, I do enjoy decorating the house, baking Christmas cookies, listening to oodles of Christmas music, and of course spending time watching things like A Charlie Brown Christmas, Elf, and Christmas Vacation. I am just glad I have a refreshed perspective on this wonderful time of year!
